What is an NFT?

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data on a digital ledger called a blockchain, where each NFT can represent a unique digital item, and thus they are not interchangeable. NFTs can represent digital files such as art, audio, videos, items in video games and other forms of creative work. While the digital files themselves are infinitely reproducible, the NFTs representing them are tracked on their underlying blockchains and provide buyers with proof of ownership of the NFTs.

What do NFT's mean for Erin's art and her collectors?

First and foremost, know that this is a new space for Visual Artists to explore and while I have some knowledge about NFTs and its future usefulness for artists like myself I am still navigating this new technology.

Digital collage art is something I began creating with my first iPhone in 2011 which you can see on my Instagram. For a long time, I only worked digitall but eventually this evolved into analog collage which became my primary creative focus. I had missed the studio and the tactile nature of working with my hands plus there was never really a market for digital art. Due to NFTs rise in popularity and digital art making a resurgence I'm revisiting my digital collage roots to enter this new exciting space.  Currently, I am exploring "reimagining" my hand-cut collage works as "moving collage" videos. In the future I hope to explore many other possibilities within this new art medium and space.

Currently, I do not intend to sell exact reproductions of any previous work. Rest assured, if you are a collector of my physical work there will not be an NFT out there of the piece you own. Also, producing hand-cut physical collages is still the primary focus of my creative energy.

I'll be adding to this page in the future as I grow and learn more about NFTs and its impact and opportunities for artists.
